If you’ve never stayed at The Atlantis in the Bahamas, it’s one of those things that you need to add to your bucket list – immediately!
This was my first time traveling to these Caribbean islands, but hopefully it won’t be my last. My husband and I are members of something called 3RD HOME (www.3rdhome.com), which is a club for luxury second home owners where you make your home available to other members for selected weeks out of the year. In return you can stay at other members’ homes anywhere in the world – for a small fee. The places you can at include both private homes as well as hotels, such as The Reef Atlantis. This was our first time using 3RD HOME, and we were very happy with the experience.
The Atlantis Resort takes up pretty much all of Paradise Island, a small island adjacent to Nassau. The resort has several hotels – The Beach Towers & Coral Towers (lowest end), Harborside Resort (at the marina) The Royal Towers (the largest hotel with the iconic Bridge Suite that costs US$ 25,000 a night – 4 nights minimum!), The Cove (very luxurious, has the only adults pool, Cain) and The Reef (private residences).
We stayed at The Reef in a Luxury Ocean View Studio on the 6th floor. The room was very spacious (540 sq. ft. / 50 m2) and comfortable. It had a very large bathroom with bath tub, separate shower, separate toilet, double sinks, lighted make-up mirror, hair dryer, nice towels a scale (!?!) and great bath amenities. The shower/conditioner/body wash bottles were larger than they normally are at hotels, which I was really happy about. I don’t like those small bottles that barely have anything in them! There was even a small TV in the bathroom so you could take a bubble bath and watch TV.
Our room had a King size bed with very nice, soft bed sheets and large pillows. There was also an alarm clock with iPod dock on one of the bedside tables and a large closet with a digital safe.
There was a small kitchenette, fully equipped with coffee maker (complimentary Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea – refilled daily), electric kettle, ceramic glass stovetop, microwave, fridge, toaster, dishwasher, etc., etc. We found everything we needed except for a corkscrew to open a bottle of wine (the concierge brought us one immediately, though).
The room also had a small dining table with 2 chairs, a sitting area with sofa, coffee table, an armchair and a large flat screen TV. We also enjoyed complimentary WIFI, not just in the room, but also throughout the resort.
The best part of the room was, undoubtedly the balcony (with 2 chairs and a table) and THE OCEAN VIEW!
We had a gorgeous view from our balcony, looking directly at the swimming pool, the beach, the ocean and the Cove & Royal Towers. We were literally just a few steps away from the amazing, white sandy beach…and a small world of fun and excitement.
We truly enjoyed spending a week in these luxury accommodations…and would certainly love to come back to Paradise Island!
