Macy’s flagship store, located on 151 W 34th St., has been around since 1902 and is the second largest store in the world with 2.2 million square feet. It’s certainly worth a visit!
Here’s what I think you must know about Macy’s on Herald Square:
I’ve heard that if you’re from out of state or a foreigner, you can go to customer service and they’ll give you a card or something so you can get an additional 10% off everything!
Macy’s is huge. I don’t know how many floors there are or how many sections on each floor, but I do know that you can get lost or lose someone in there – easily.
One thing that’s really cool, is that they still have and use the old, wooden escalators! Of course, there are newer and modern escalators as well as elevators.
There are plenty of places to get food and beverages inside the store, which is super convenient and smart, because it means that YOU NEVER HAVE TO LEAVE!
I recommend sitting down for a nice lunch at Stella 34, an Italian Trattoria & Bar located on the 6th floor.
If you’re not that hungry, you might want to go for an appetizer size salad. I liked the Napoli salad with chopped romaine, arugula, salami, prosciutto, artichokes, mushrooms, peppers, olives, provolone, dates, croutons. The pasta and pizza were also delicious.
If you find yourself in New York City on a rainy or cold day, then perhaps a visit to Macy’s might be a good idea. Besides, what’s a vacation without a little shopping?
