#26 – Flickr, Hurricane Maria & Climate Change

Sunday fun day! I feel like I’ve literally been sitting on the couch the entire day… yesterday, my laptop started giving me pop-up messages saying that it was running out of storage space. Uh oh.

I knew this was coming. I have so many photos and videos on my hard drive right now, and I could have had so much more if I hadn’t lost a ton of photos in the last few years.

So, I created a FREE account on www.flickr.com where I have 1000 GB of space (!) and spent the day uploading photos and videos to there – all set as private albums! I’ve uploaded a bunch of videos on my YouTube channel too, so I’m hoping to be able to clear my laptop of all the weight before the day is over.

Did I mention there’s another hurricane coming for us!?! Urgh. This is too much to handle right now. I mean, we JUST got back from New York after Hurricane Irma and next week Hurricane Maria looks like she’ll hit the Dominican Republic as a category 3 (possibly 4) storm.

I just don’t know what to say. Seems like what’s going on in the world right now is insane. Is it all due to climate change? Is it all our own damn fault for living like we do and polluting like we do? I’m kind of convinced that it is and that we need to take action NOW more than ever if we’re going to make the situation better.

Climate change is REAL. It’s happening. Look around you at what’s happening in the world and a lot of that is weather-related to e.g. storms, droughts, flooding, etc. We need an environmental revolution to set the world on a different path and it begins not with the politicians or the big corporations…no, it begins with us. It begins with each individual making the decision to live differently, to consume differently and to pollute differently. Cut everything by 10% – 25% – 50% and that’ll be a good start. Start by eating less meat and especially red meat, which is a heavyweight when it comes to pollution.

Just start.
