#123 – Note to Self

Today, I’m making a mental not to self:

Please try harder to eat smarter!

Seriously! I was so damn sure that I was eating healthy (not too much) and working out enough to not gain any weight during the week we were on the cruise…





I guess, the joke’s on me. And it just goes to show that there’s no amount of exercise that can make up for a bad diet or eating too many calories.

In retrospect, I must have been delirious thinking that I was doing a “good job” eating healthy and not too much on the cruise, because every day I had a big lunch, a big (3-course) dinner and at least half a bottle of wine. Not to mention the desserts. So, even my daily (light) breakfast with just a fruit plate and maybe a little eggs & bacon and my daily workouts (sometimes twice a day) weren’t anywhere near enough to keep things in check.

Having tried “everything”, I’m beginning to think that eating more plants is the answer. I really want to make this transition and although I won’t be able to do it in one day and even though I’ll fail many times along the way…the first and most (?) important step in the right direction is making the conscious decision and being aware of what I’m doing…whether it’s right or wrong.
