It got a little late last night – to say the least.
Even though we had dinner early so we could get a head start on everything, we still ended up sitting half the night and opening Christmas presents…until about 3 AM!!!
Christmas does not correspond well with my wish and desire to live a more minimalist lifestyle.
Let me repeat that: Christmas does not correspond well with my wish and desire to live a more minimalist lifestyle!!! It just doesn’t because everyone (myself included, thank you very much) ends up buying an insane amount of presents to everyone else.
Everyone else is 3 people. For the 4 of us, I think we had some 200 presents.
Let me repeat that: For the 4 of us, I think we had some 200 presents!!! Some of them are big and expensive, but most are small and some are bought second hand. This year, I scoured around my house and wrapped up the things that I no longer used or wanted and used them for presents before going out and buying anything – first hand.
Usually, I’ll take the presents that I got and know that I won’t use and put them in a big bag that I keep in my closet. And I’ll use these to give to someone else whenever a birthday or some other special occasion comes around.
I did that this year too. A couple of past presents that I’d received (and weren’t going to use) were passed on as new presents. And you know what? It turned out that they found a much better “home” with the new owner. So, isn’t that 10 times better than just laying around my house and not being used? I think so.
I don’t even know what time I got up this afternoon, but I think it was definitely after noon.
And I had a headache.
And I was sick.
And I ate too much…
