#200 – Déjà vu at Grand Cayman Island

Our friends went to explore Grand Cayman Island on rented scooters while Mr. A and I decided to take it slow and just do our own thing. We ended up have a total déjà vu moment on the island…I slept in because my back was completely sun-burnt and it was killing me. I felt like all energy had been drained from my body. Besides, I also (still) had a slight sore throat so I was really not feeling up for much. Mr. A spent a few hours working on the computer and around 10 am, I got up and started getting ready for us to go ashore.

We’d decided to just go back to Guy Harvey’s Island Grill for lunch. I say “back to” because we’d been there in November when we visited Grand Cayman on another cruise. So we knew very well that there’s not much to experience by the harbor apart from the regular tourist shops and places like Margaritaville…

We went straight to the restaurant, which is about a 10-minute walk from the harbor, and had a great lunch. Fortunately, there weren’t many people so we could get a table on the upstairs balcony with the BEST view of our cruise ship! We had great service, great food and shared a bottle of Whispering Angel. I do believe this was the first time in my life that I’d ever had half a bottle of wine for breakfast…well, it was technically brunch so I guess it was okay.

We shared the crispy fried calamari with tartar sauce, 2 different sushi rolls (a dragon roll and one with soft shell crab that I can’t remember the name of, but it was delicious) and a vegetable curry dish (we added chicken) with rice that we really shouldn’t have ordered because we were already so FULL…

And then we went back to the ship and I slept until dinner at 8 pm.

P.S. Our friends went to Smith Cove Beach and said it was absolutely wonderful. So if I ever go back to Grand Cayman Island I’d like to go there and check it out.
