#204 – There’s No Place Like Home

To live and travel

It’s true what they say: There’s no place like home. Home is, after all, where the heart is…the only thing is, though, that I lost mine somewhere “out there” a long time ago.

I’m very happy to be back in my comfort zone and in the middle of all of my routines. But there’s no denying that travel is… it’s the best thing in the world.  Travel IS truly the only thing you buy that makes you richer. I wish for everyone to have the opportunity to travel – near and far…alone and with someone special. It’s probably the best form of education, eye-opener there is and a great way to become self aware. And I think it only gets better as you get older.

I feel incredibly privileged that I’m able to travel so much and so often. I know that there are plenty of people in the world who have much, much (!) more in life than I do…and, on the other side, there are plenty of people who have much less. The thing is to appreciate what you do have, regardless of how little or how much. The tragedy is often, that people who have so much, take it for granted. And people who have so little, spend so much time wishing they had more. So, no one really stops to think about what they do have and appreciate that.

I know that I take things for granted too – often. But sometimes I do STOP and think to myself how incredibly mind-blowing this life really is. Just think about how far in life you’ve come from when you were a kid, dreaming about your future and imagining how things would one day be. Did your dreams come true exactly like you hoped for? Mine did and they didn’t…but I’m living a new (another) dream that I didn’t even imagine …way back then. And it’s okay. It’s pretty damn okay, actually. And that’s just the way it goes, I guess…life.

The “secret” is to always keep moving. To always keep learning and to improve every day. Keep your eyes and mind open for opportunities and treat people with respect along the way. And, of course… be authentic.
